The World Combat Games was held from October 20th to 30th, 2023, at the King Saud University Arena in the nation’s capital city of Riyadh.

The World Combat Games (GAISF World Combat Games / SportAccord World Combat Games) is an international multi-sport event featuring combat sports and martial arts. The games were founded by SportAccord as a way of bringing various martial arts and combative sports to an international audience. The World Combat Games are also accompanied by a cultural program that reflects the ancient traditions and values of martial arts as well as their contribution to modern society. The games are recognised by the International Olympic Committee.

This year marks a significant milestone for Saudi Arabia as Riyadh proudly becomes the first Middle Eastern city to host the World Combat Games. This remarkable sporting spectacle, hosted for the first time in the Middle East, was held from October 20 – 30, 2023, at the King Saud University Arena in the nation’s capital city of Riyadh. The Riyadh 2023 World Combat Games is poised to be the largest tournament in its history, boasting over 1,500 elite male and female athletes from more than 120 countries. This prestigious event spanned 11 days of competition across 16 combat sports, including Aikido, Arm Wrestling, Boxing, Fencing, Judo, Ju-Jitsu, Karate, Kendo, Kickboxing, Muaythai, Sambo, Savate, Sumo, Taekwondo, Wrestling, and Wushu.

Athletes from all over the world come to compete at the highest level, not only to win medals, but also to represent their countries and achieve their personal best. For some sports, the event will provide athletes with a top-calibre test ahead of next summer’s Olympic Games Paris 2024. While for athletes competing in non-Olympic sports, the event is an opportunity to square off against other elite internationals for a chance to return home with a prestigious World Combat Games medal.
