The Pan American and Para Pan American Games will be held in Santiago, Chile from October 20th to November 5th, and from November 17th to November 26th, 2023 respectively.

The Pan American Games are the largest multidisciplinary international sporting event in which athletes from the Americas participate. They are held every four years, just one year before the Olympic Games. The Para Pan American Games are held in the same host city approximately 10 days after the end of the Pan American Games. The duration of the event is approximately one month.

For the first time in history the beautiful city of Santiago, Chile is preparing to host the most important and massive multisport festival on the continent and the second most attractive in the world behind the Olympic Games. Here, 7000 Pan American athletes from 41 countries will compete in 39 sports, many of them with direct qualification to the 2024 Paris Olympics at stake. The Para Pan American expect the visit of 2,200 athletes from 33 countries, in 18 sports.

Fiu is the Santiago 2023 official mascot, which is a seven-coloured bird. The name is given due to the sound of its singing and what people listen when it run past them.
